Giggle or cry?

So, Anna was sat on my knee and teething and grizzling as teething babies do and I’m trying to rub her gums and cheer her up, and as I do, she’s half smiling, half whinging and not sure what she wants to do.  As I keep rubbing her gums gently to eleviate the pains, she’s giggling more and more and grinning until her face is one big grin.. and then she remembers her gums hurt and she bursts out into a big loud cry.

M’oh well, it was fun when it lasted!

Quote of the day

She’s taking my sperm and sperm is like lending someone less than five pounds.  You can’t really ask for it back…

Blooming iPods

the blinking iPodкомпютри втора употребаNow, I’m not a big fan of anything Apple - most people who know me know this.  Even so, as I type, I am wearing a Microsoft something or other I’m sure, whilst using a laptop with Vista and keeping an eye on the Exchange server.  Yep - true blue am I.

So, when I won an iPod shuffle, the first thing I said was:

I donate this prize to Natasha.

This did mean that it has been sat on the desk for two weeks now in the little box it comes in, looking all sad and unused.  So, I’ve said enough is enough and put it on charge… 8 hours ago.

The blinking thing (and I mean that quite literally) has done nothing but blink… and blink… and blink… and blink… and blink… on and on and on and on and when will it ever end?!

I’m glad I’ve given it to the wife.

A bit of a break…

Daddy and Daughter… not an intentional break, either.  Since my last post Natasha gave birth to a baby girl - we now have Anna. She’s now 6 weeks old and growing like nothing else…

Today, although it is a Monday, I was sat at my desk - it felt like “Bring your daughter to work/whatever Day” - she was sat happily snoozing as I did my bits and pieces!

Happy days :)

How to bake cookies…

For this you will need:

150g of caster sugar
25g of brown sugar
175g of plain flour
125g of un-salted butter
1 tbsp of baking powder
30g chocolate chips
1 tbsp of salt
vanilla essence

However, I didn’t have many of this, so I had to improvise…

175g of granulated sugar
175g of plain flower
125g of soya margarine
1 tbsp of baking powder
30g chocolate chips
a few twists of salt

Method:
Turn on the hob and find a pan… notice that the washing up hasn’t been done from dinner because you were a lazy chef and wash one up… swill one out.  Put the marg in and turn on the cooker at the switch on the wall… melt the marg.  Find a large bowl.  Notice that it needs a quick wipe out and duly do so.  Spin around to get the kitchen roll and fall backwards, grabbing at the handle of the fridge.  Miss and land on your arse.  Get back up and wipe out the bowl.  Add the sugar and melted marg  and whisk…. beat…. use a spoon to mix it up.  Add 1 egg to the ingrediants and in due course to the bowl, along with the baking powder and sieve in some flour.  Mix it all together with a spoon and add in the 25g of chocolate chips… mix well.  grease up a tray and turn on the oven to 180 degrees… try to spoon out the mixture into little globs only to end up spreading all over… like a big cake.  Putin oven and sit on the floor.  Watch it burn around the edges.  At no point stab a knife into it.  I didn’t.  Honest.

Take out after 15-20 minutes and allow to cool.

Caution - this might make you fat.

Oh fucking hell..

I’ve got a fair bit of track… and I’ve been tightening the fishplates… only - I appear to have 1 extra.

How… why?!  It’s doing my head in and I’m turning my desk inside out trying to find the bit of track its from….

Where the… what?! How?! Why?! But you’re… black!

Well, it’s been quite a hiatus from blogging, mostly because of the lack of reliable internet connection. Let me advise you all now, TalkTalk broadband sucks.  Also, someone correcting your spelling from the other side of the bed is another annoyance.

So, we’ve moved to a 1 bedroom bungalow until the council can find us a 2 bedroom flat… or a 2 bedroom bungalow, whichever is the closest.  Either way, we’re in a home and we’ve done all the stuff we need to - including sorting out phone, broadband, heating, plumbing, beds - the works.

And that’s where I’ve been.  I’ve been without reliable internet.

I’m not black, though.  I had a wash only last Wednesday and I’m still pretty clean.

Choppers

Natasha and I were up at the hospital today to get Natasha checked out (nothing serious, so nothing to report there)… as we were leaving, we heard a helicopter and caught the following video.
